Park the vehicle on level ground and turn off the engine.
Allow a few minutes for the transmission fluid to cool down before checking.
Open the hood of your vehicle.
Locate the transmission fluid dipstick, usually marked with a yellow handle or cap. It is typically found near the back of the engine bay, close to the transmission.
Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean using a clean cloth or paper towel.
Ensure the entire dipstick is clean to get a precise reading.
Reinsert the dipstick all the way back into its tube.
When reinserting, make sure the dipstick is fully seated to get an accurate fluid level reading.
Pull the dipstick out again and inspect the fluid level.
The transmission fluid should be between the "Min" and "Max" markings on the dipstick. If the fluid level is low, you will need to add more fluid.
If the fluid level is low, add the recommended type of transmission fluid through the dipstick tube.
Use a funnel to add the fluid slowly, checking the dipstick periodically to monitor the level.
Once the transmission fluid level is between the "Min" and "Max" marks, reinsert the dipstick and close the hood.
Note: It is crucial to use the correct type of transmission fluid specified in the vehicle's owner's manual to maintain proper transmission performance. Additionally, if the transmission fluid is excessively low or appears dirty or discolored, it is recommended to have it inspected by a professional mechanic for further assessment.
