What is a Mitsubishi Shogun SWB?

The Mitsubishi Shogun SWB (Short Wheel Base) is a compact to mid-size SUV produced by Mitsubishi Motors. It is based on the Pajero compact SUV, sold outside Japan as the Montero or Shogun in most markets. The Shogun SWB was introduced in 1991 and saw two generations of production.

The first-generation Shogun SWB (1991-2000) was built primarily for the European and Australian markets. It was offered in both hardtop and soft-top body styles. It featured a 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine, a five-speed manual transmission, and selectable four-wheel drive.

The second-generation Shogun SWB (2000-2011) received several upgrades and improvements over its predecessor. It featured a more refined design, a 3.2-litre turbodiesel engine, and a more advanced four-wheel drive system. It was offered in both three-door and five-door body styles and became known for its ruggedness and off-road capabilities.

Production of the Mitsubishi Shogun SWB ended in 2011. However, the Shogun SUV continued to be offered in other markets, primarily as the Pajero in Japan and the Montero in some countries.
