1. Locate the idle speed adjustment screw. It is located on the side of the injection pump, just below the fuel filter.
2. Insert the flat-head screwdriver into the adjustment screw and turn it clockwise to increase the idle speed, or counterclockwise to decrease it.
3. Start the engine and allow it to warm up to operating temperature.
4. Adjust the idle speed to between 800 and 900 rpm.
5. Turn off the engine and recheck the idle speed. Make sure that it is still within the specified range.
If you are unable to adjust the idle speed within the specified range, you may need to have the fuel injection pump serviced.
