Procedure
1. Park your car in a well-ventilated area. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
2. Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels.
3. Locate the fuel pump. It is located under the rear seat on the driver's side.
4. Remove the rear seat. There may be one or two bolts holding it in place.
5. You may need to pry up the carpet to expose the fuel pump.
6. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will help to prevent any sparks from occurring when you are working on the fuel pump.
7. Relieve the fuel pressure. To do this, start the engine and let it run until it stalls out. Then, turn the key to the "Off" position and wait 5 minutes.
8. Place a gasoline-safe container under the fuel pump.
9. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel pump. Use fuel line pliers to loosen the clamps and then pull the hoses off of the pump. Be careful not to spill any gasoline.
10. Remove the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
11. Remove the bolts that hold the fuel pump in place. There are usually two or three bolts.
12. Lift the fuel pump out of the tank.
13. Inspect the fuel pump for damage. If it is damaged, replace it with a new one.
14. Install the new fuel pump. Reverse the procedure you used to remove the old pump.
15. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
16. Start the engine and check for leaks.
17. Replace the rear seat.
