Tools and Materials Needed:
- 10 mm Allen key
- Torque wrench
- Oil
- Thread sealant
- New cylinder head bolts (if necessary)
Instructions:
1. Remove the valve cover and clean the cylinder head surface thoroughly. Use degreaser and a clean cloth to remove any oil or dirt.
2. Apply a thin coat of oil to the threads of the cylinder head bolts.
3. Apply thread sealant to the first few threads of the cylinder head bolts. This will help to seal the bolts and prevent leaks.
4. Install the cylinder head bolts in the correct sequence. The sequence is shown in the service manual for your vehicle.
5. Tighten the cylinder head bolts to the specified torque using a torque wrench. The torque specifications can be found in the service manual for your vehicle.
6. Reinstall the valve cover and gasket.
7. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to warm up.
8. Check for any leaks. If there are any leaks, tighten the cylinder head bolts a little bit more.
9. Reinstall the serpentine belt and any other accessories that were removed.
10. Test drive the vehicle to make sure that the cylinder head bolts are installed correctly.
