- Polish the crankshaft to ensure a smooth surface.
- Replace any damaged bearings.
4. Piston and Connecting Rod Reconditioning
- Check pistons for damage, including cracks or scuffing.
- Replace any damaged pistons.
- Check connecting rods for bending or damage.
- Replace any damaged connecting rods.
- Resize the piston pin bores.
- Install new piston rings.
5. Cylinder Head Reconstruction
- Check cylinder heads for cracks, warpage, or other damage.
- Repair or replace damaged cylinder heads.
- Resurface the cylinder heads to ensure a proper seal.
- Replace the valve guides and valve seals.
- Install new valves and springs.
6. Short Block Assembly
- Install the pistons and connecting rods into the block.
- Install new main bearings and rod bearings.
- Install the crankshaft and torque the main bearing caps.
- Install the camshaft and torque the camshaft bearings.
7. Engine Installation
- Carefully install the cylinder heads and tighten the cylinder head bolts to the specified torque.
- Install the intake manifold and throttle body.
- Install the exhaust manifolds or headers.
- Connect all the necessary components, including wiring, fuel lines, coolant hoses, and exhaust system.
- Reinstall the engine into the vehicle.
