How do you change a sump gasket in your 2002 au ford?

Tools and Materials:

- New sump gasket

- Oil drain pan

- New oil filter (optional, but recommended)

- Torque wrench

- 10 mm socket

- 13 mm socket

- 17 mm socket

- Flat-head screwdriver

- Thread sealant

- Replacement motor oil

Procedure:

1. Park your car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Locate the oil drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan. It is usually a 17 mm bolt.

3. Place the oil drain pan under the drain plug and remove the drain plug. Allow all of the oil to drain from the oil pan.

4. Replace the oil drain plug.

5. Raise the car on ramps or jack stands so that you can comfortably access the bottom of the oil pan.

6. Locate the sump gasket. It is the gasket between the oil pan and the engine block.

7. Carefully remove the sump gasket using a flat-head screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the gasket surface on the oil pan or engine block.

8. Clean the gasket surface on the oil pan and engine block with a clean cloth.

9. Apply a small amount of thread sealant to the new sump gasket.

10. Position the new sump gasket on the oil pan and carefully lower the oil pan into place.

11. Secure the oil pan with the 10 mm, 13 mm, and 17 mm bolts. Tighten the bolts until they are snug, but do not over-tighten them.

12. Lower the car from the ramps or jack stands and dispose of the old oil and filter.

13. Fill the engine with new motor oil to the recommended level.

14. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the new oil.

15. Check for any leaks under the car. If you see any leaks, you may need to further tighten the sump gasket bolts.

Tips:

- If you are unsure about any of the steps involved in this procedure, consult with a qualified mechanic.

- Oil can be hot, so be sure to allow it to cool down before starting this procedure.

- Be careful not to drop any bolts, nuts, or other small parts into the oil pan.
