1st step torque: 25 ft-lbs
2nd step torque: 35 ft-lbs
90-degree step torque: 15 ft-lbs
In addition to the torque specifications, the following procedures are recommended for proper cylinder head torque sequencing and tightening:
Ensure the engine block and cylinder head are clean and free of debris.
Use a new intake manifold gasket.
Use a new head gasket.
Use new head bolts.
Lubricate the head bolt threads with engine oil.
Tighten the head bolts in the proper sequence and at the specified torque values.
After the cylinder heads have been torqued, allow the engine to sit for several hours before running it to allow the head gasket to set properly.
