How do you take the ignition key off a jeep yj?

To take off the ignition key on a Jeep YJ, follow these steps:

Ensure the vehicle is turned off and the parking brake is engaged.

Locate the ignition switch. It is typically located on the right side of the steering column.

Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the "Run" position.

Press and hold the key release button, which is usually located near the ignition switch. On Jeep YJ models, this button is usually located on the bottom-left side of the steering column, or on the steering column cover.

While pressing the key release button, turn the key back to the "Off" position.

The key should now be disengaged from the ignition switch and can be removed.

Note: If the ignition key is stuck or if the key release button does not work, there might be an issue with the ignition lock cylinder or its components. In such cases, it is advisable to seek assistance from a qualified automotive locksmith or mechanic.
