Your 83 Chevy silverado when you turn on the heater looks like smoke but not some say steam anyone know how repair this problem tried bar stuff did work?

There could be moisture trapped in the system that's being evaporated with the heat on, this is probably from a leak somewhere in the system. Coolant can easily drip from a pin hole in a radiator hose and evaporate on your header before you ever see it. Look for any puddles you might have when the vehicle has been sitting after warming up. It's also possible that your intake manifold gasket is leaking and coolant is pooling onto your header from the intake ports, this is a fairly easy fix but can lead to lean fuel mixtures if it fails completely so take care of that immediately if it's the case.
