1. Open the hood of your Olds Cutlass.
2. Locate the diagnostic plug. It is a small, black connector with a red wire and a black wire. It is located on the driver's side of the engine, near the top.
3. Remove the cap. The cap is the part that snaps onto the connector.
4. Find the C-3 lead. It is the black wire.
5. Touch the C-3 lead with a metal tool or wire. This will ground it.
6. Start the engine.
7. The engine will run rough for a few seconds. This is normal.
8. After a few seconds, the engine will idle smoothly.
9. Once the engine is idling smoothly, turn it off.
10. Put the cap back on the diagnostic plug.
11. Close the hood of your Olds Cutlass.
