How do you change fuel pump on a 2002 grand am?

Tools and Materials:

- Phillips-head screwdriver

- Flat-head screwdriver

- Socket wrench set

- Fuel filter wrench

- Rags

- Safety goggles

- New fuel pump

Instructions:

1. Park your car in a well-ventilated area and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down completely before beginning work. Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels to prevent the car from rolling.

2. Locate the fuel pump. The fuel pump is located underneath the rear seat of the 2002 Grand Am. To access the fuel pump, you will need to remove the rear seat.

3. Remove the rear seat. To remove the rear seat, first remove the two bolts that hold the seat in place. The bolts are located at the front of the seat, near the floor. Once the bolts are removed, lift the seat up and out of the car.

4. Disconnect the fuel lines. There are two fuel lines that connect to the fuel pump. To disconnect the fuel lines, use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the fuel line connectors off of the fuel pump. Be careful not to spill any fuel.

5. Remove the fuel pump bracket. The fuel pump is held in place by a bracket. To remove the bracket, use a socket wrench to loosen the bolts that hold the bracket in place. Once the bolts are loosened, remove the bracket.

6. Remove the fuel pump. Once the bracket is removed, you can remove the fuel pump. To remove the fuel pump, use a socket wrench to loosen the bolts that hold the fuel pump in place. Once the bolts are loosened, lift the fuel pump out of the tank.

7. Install the new fuel pump. To install the new fuel pump, reverse the steps that you used to remove the old fuel pump. Be sure to tighten all of the bolts securely.

8. Connect the fuel lines. Connect the fuel lines to the new fuel pump. Be sure to push the fuel line connectors all the way onto the fuel pump.

9. Install the fuel pump bracket. Install the fuel pump bracket. Be sure to tighten the bolts securely.

10. Reinstall the rear seat. Reinstall the rear seat. Be sure to insert the bolts into the holes in the floor and tighten them securely.

Tips:

- When removing the fuel lines, be careful not to spill any fuel. If you do spill any fuel, clean it up immediately with a rag.

- When installing the new fuel pump, be sure to tighten all of the bolts securely. If the bolts are not tightened securely, the fuel pump may come loose and cause a fuel leak.
