2. Connect a scan tool to the diagnostic connector. A scan tool is a device that can read and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from your vehicle's computer. You can purchase a scan tool from an automotive parts store or online.
3. Turn on the ignition. Do not start the engine.
4. Select the "Read Codes" option on the scan tool. The scan tool will display any DTCs that are stored in your vehicle's computer.
5. Select the "Clear Codes" option on the scan tool. The scan tool will clear any DTCs that are displayed.
6. Turn off the ignition.
7. Start the engine. The engine light should be off.
