1) Dead battery: Check your battery voltage with a multimeter
- A fully charged battery should read around 12.6 volts
- If below 12.2, charge or replace the battery
2) Bad fuel: Bad gas can cause a car to crank but not start. Try adding a bottle of fuel injector cleaner to your gas tank.
3) Fuel pump: The fuel pump is responsible for delivering gas to the engine. If the fuel pump fails, the engine will not receive fuel and the car will not start. Check your fuel pressure.
4) Clogged fuel filter: A clogged fuel filter can restrict fuel flow to the engine, causing it not to start. Check the fuel filter and replace it if necessary.
5) Bad spark plugs or wires: Spark plugs create the spark that ignites the fuel in the engine. Bad spark plugs or wires can cause a car to crank but not start. Check the spark plugs and wires and replace them if necessary.
6) Distributor cap or rotor: Bad distributor caps and rotors can also cause a car to crank but not start. Check the cap and rotor and replace them if necessary.
7) Faulty ignition coil or module: The ignition coils or modules are responsible for providing power to the spark plugs. If they are bad, the engine will not receive the spark it needs to start.
8) Bad starter: If the starter is not working properly, the engine will not be able to crank and start.
9) Bad alternator: If the alternator is not working properly, the battery will not be charged and the car will not be able to start.
