1994 -2002 Mazda MX-6 Thermostat Replacement Procedure

1. Allow engine to cool completely.

2. Remove battery and battery tray

3. Locate thermostat housing between engine and firewall passenger side

4. Drain coolant by opening drain , located under the radiator (driver side)

5. Remove 2 bolts to separate thermostat from housing

6. Remove thermostat from housing

7. Clean mounting surface of housing, ensuring no old gasket material remains

8. Dip thermostat in new coolant and gently insert into housing

9. Replace gasket and insert 2 mounting bolts, tighten securely

10. Refill coolant

11. Replace battery and battery tray

12. Start vehicle, and allow to reach normal operation temperature
