- Look for the oil filter: it is nearby, usually mounted on the side of the engine block, near the oil drain plug, attached by a single bolt.
- Follow the oil filter housing to the oil filter. Alternatively, you can:
- look for a cylindrical object with threads showing at one end and a metal can-like object at the other end.
- look beneath the car, locate the oil pan, and follow the oil line upwards to the oil filter.
