First pass is 3 stage and done cold:
- 30 lbs-ft (37 Nm) (all bolts)
- 50 lbs-ft (68 Nm) (all bolts)
- 59 lbs-ft (80 Nm) (all bolts)
Note: The head bolt tightening sequence is very important to ensure proper sealing of the head gasket. Honda strongly recommends that the cylinder head bolts be tightened in the correct sequence.
Final step (after engine has warmed up to normal operating temperature):
- 72 lbs-ft (98 Nm) (head bolts)
- 18 lbs-ft (25 Nm) (cam journal cover bolts)
- 7-10 lbs-ft (9.5-13.5 Nm) (cam bearing cap bolts)
