1. Remove the fuel filler cap. This will release the pressure in the fuel system and make it easier to remove the fuel pump.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. This will prevent any electrical sparks from occurring when you are working on the fuel system.
3. Remove the fuel tank skid plate. This is located under the rear of the vehicle. You may need to use a jack and stands to lift the vehicle up to access the skid plate.
4. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel pump. There are two fuel lines, one for the supply and one for the return. Be careful not to spill any fuel.
5. Remove the electrical connector from the fuel pump. This is located on the top of the fuel pump.
6. Remove the fuel pump mounting bolts. There are four bolts that hold the fuel pump in place.
7. Lift the fuel pump out of the fuel tank. Be careful not to damage the fuel pump or the fuel tank.
8. Install the new fuel pump. Reverse the steps above to install the new fuel pump.
9. Test the fuel system. Once the new fuel pump is installed, turn the key to the "On" position and listen for the fuel pump to run. The fuel pump should run for a few seconds and then turn off. If the fuel pump does not run, check the electrical connections and make sure that the fuel tank is properly filled with fuel.
