1. Disconnect the battery. This is important to prevent any electrical injuries while you are working on the engine.
2. Remove the air filter. This will give you more room to work and access the camshaft sensor.
3. Locate the camshaft sensor. It is located on the front of the engine, near the top of the cylinder head.
4. Unplug the camshaft sensor. There is a single electrical connector that connects the camshaft sensor to the engine wiring harness. Disconnect this connector.
5. Remove the mounting bolts. There are two bolts that hold the camshaft sensor in place. Remove these bolts.
6. Remove the camshaft sensor. Once the mounting bolts are removed, you can pull the camshaft sensor out of the engine. Be careful not to drop the sensor.
7. Inspect the camshaft sensor. Look for any signs of damage, such as cracks or corrosion. If the sensor is damaged, it must be replaced.
8. Install the new camshaft sensor. If the old camshaft sensor is damaged, you must install a new one. To install the new sensor, simply reverse the steps that you took to remove the old sensor.
9. Reconnect the battery. Once the camshaft sensor is installed, you can reconnect the battery.
10. Start the engine and check for leaks. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks from the camshaft sensor. If there are no leaks, the job is complete.
