Instructions:

1. Park your Sidekick on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

4. Allow all of the oil to drain from the oil pan.

5. Replace the oil pan drain plug gasket and reinstall the bolt.

6. Locate the oil filter on the side of the engine. It is a cylindrical-shaped object with a black cap.

9. Screw the new oil filter onto the engine by hand until it is snug.

13. Clean the oil pan and engine block mating surfaces with a degreaser.

14. Apply a thin coat of new engine oil to the new oil pan gasket.

15. Install the new oil pan gasket by carefully positioning it between the oil pan and the engine block.

16. Tighten the oil pan bolts in a crisscross pattern until they are snug.

17. Add 3.7 quarts of new engine oil to the engine.

19. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.

20. Check for leaks under the car.

Tips:

* Be careful not to overtighten the oil pan bolts. This could damage the oil pan or the engine block.

* If you are not comfortable performing this repair yourself, you can take your Sidekick to a qualified mechanic.
