The diagnostic port, also known as the OBD-II port, is usually located under the dashboard, near the steering wheel. It is a small, rectangular port with 16 pins.
Step 2: Purchase an OBD-II scanner.
You can purchase an OBD-II scanner online or at an auto parts store. There are many different types of OBD-II scanners available, so choose one that is compatible with your Honda Accord.
Step 3: Connect the OBD-II scanner to the diagnostic port.
Once you have the scanner, plug it into the diagnostic port. The scanner will turn on and display the engine light code.
Step 4: Write down the engine light code.
Once the engine light code is displayed, write it down. The code will consist of a letter followed by four numbers. For example, the code P0420 means that there is a problem with the catalytic converter.
Step 5: Research the engine light code.
Once you have the code, you can research it online to find out what it means. There are many websites that provide information on engine light codes.
Step 6: Take your car to a mechanic.
If the code you received is serious and causes concern for your car’s ability to safely run, you will need to take your vehicle to a mechanic to have it repaired.
NOTE: If you do not have an OBD-II scanner, you can also take your car to a mechanic to have the engine light code read.
