Procedure:
Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down completely.
Relieve the fuel pressure from the system by following these steps:
Remove the fuel cap and allow the pressure to bleed off for 30 minutes.
Locate the fuel pressure release valve on the fuel injection rail on the passenger side of the car.
Attach a fuel injection pressure release tool to the valve and press the release button.
Allow the fuel to drain into a 5-gallon gas can.
Park your vehicle outdoors in a well-ventilated area.
Locate the fuel tank under the car. It is a rectangular metal container located near the rear of the vehicle.
Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to disconnect all power to the fuel pump.
Remove the gas tank skid plate if equipped.
Locate the fuel pump access cover on the top of the fuel tank. It is usually secured by a few screws or bolts.
Remove the screws or bolts securing the fuel pump access cover and lift it off.
Locate the fuel pump inside the tank. It is a cylindrical metal object with a black plastic top.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
Use a slotted screwdriver to pry up the fuel pump lock ring and remove it.
Use needle nose pliers to grasp the fuel pump outlet and pull it out of the tank.
Note: Be careful not to drop the fuel pump into the tank.
Remove the fuel pump assembly from the tank.
Inspect the fuel pump for damage or wear and replace it if necessary.
Reassemble the fuel pump in the reverse order of removal.
Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
Start the engine and check for leaks.
