1. Gather your materials. You will need:
* New oil filter (Buell part number 99102-01A)
* New crush washer for oil drain plug (Buell part number 99000-08A)
* Oil pan
* Funnel
* Wrench
* Rags
2. Prepare your bike. Park your bike on a level surface. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down. Place the oil pan under the oil drain plug.
3. Remove the oil drain plug. Use the wrench to loosen the oil drain plug. Allow the oil to drain completely into the oil pan.
4. Replace the oil drain plug. Once the oil has drained, replace the oil drain plug. Tighten the plug until it is snug.
5. Locate the oil filter. The oil filter is located on the left side of the engine, near the top.
6. Remove the oil filter. Use the wrench to loosen the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.
7. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter. This will help to create a seal and prevent leaks.
8. Screw on the new oil filter. Hand-tighten the oil filter until it is snug. Do not overtighten the oil filter.
9. Add new oil to the engine. Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine. The oil fill hole is located on the top of the engine, near the front. Add the amount of oil specified in your owner's manual.
10. Check the oil level. Use the dipstick to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
11. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.
12. Check for leaks. Look under the bike for any leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the oil drain plug or oil filter until the leak stops.
13. Dispose of the old oil and filter properly. Take the old oil and filter to a recycling center.
