How do I put a camshaft position sensor for 1996 LS400 Lexus?

Tools and Materials Needed

* Replacement camshaft position sensor

* Socket set

* Wrench set

* Pliers

* Screwdriver

* RTV sealant

Instructions

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Locate the camshaft position sensor. It is located on the front of the engine, near the top of the timing chain cover.

3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the camshaft position sensor.

4. Use a wrench to loosen the bolt that holds the camshaft position sensor in place.

5. Remove the bolt and the camshaft position sensor.

6. Apply a small amount of RTV sealant to the new camshaft position sensor.

7. Install the new camshaft position sensor and tighten the bolt.

8. Reconnect the electrical connector to the camshaft position sensor.

9. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.

10. Start the engine and check for leaks.

Tips

* Be careful not to drop the camshaft position sensor. It is a small and delicate part.

* If you are having trouble finding the camshaft position sensor, consult a repair manual or a qualified mechanic.

* Be sure to apply RTV sealant to the new camshaft position sensor. This will help to prevent leaks.

* Start the engine and check for leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the bolts until the leaks stop.
