Short circuit: There could be a short circuit in the wiring of the lighter socket or the device that's plugged into it.
Overloaded circuit: The lighter socket may be overloaded with too many devices plugged into it.
Faulty lighter socket: The lighter socket itself could be faulty and causing the fuse to blow.
Blown fuse: The fuse may have simply blown due to normal wear and tear.
Things to check:
- Check all the wiring in the lighter socket and the device that's plugged in for any exposed wires or loose connections.
- Unplug any devices that are plugged in to see if the fuse still blows without anything plugged .
- If you have a multimeter, check the resistance between the positive and negative terminals of the lighter socket to test for continuity. If there is no continuity, the socket is faulty.
- Replace the fuse with a new one and ensure it doesn’t blow again. If it does, you will need to take your vehicle to a mechanic or electrician to diagnose and fix the problem.
