Disconnect any existing battery to work safely. Disconnect the vehicle's negative (black) cable first, followed by the positive (red) cable.
Locate Battery Terminals:
Identify the battery terminals on the engine. The terminals are typically marked as "POS" (positive) and "NEG" (negative).
Clean Battery Terminals:
Clean the battery terminals and cable connectors using a wire brush to ensure a good connection. Remove any dirt, corrosion, or debris that may hinder proper contact.
Connect Positive Terminal:
Connect the positive terminal of the battery to the positive terminal of the engine using the red cable. Make sure the connection is tight and secure.
Connect Negative Terminal:
Connect the negative terminal of the battery to the negative terminal of the engine using the black cable. Again, ensure a snug and secure connection.
Verify Connections:
Double-check the connections between the battery terminals and engine terminals to make sure they are secure and free from any loose ends or gaps.
Test the Engine:
Start the engine to test the connection. The engine should start and run normally with the battery providing the necessary power.
Turn Off Engine and Recheck:
Turn off the engine and reconnect the battery to the vehicle's electrical system, as discussed in step 1, if applicable. Recheck the connections to make sure they are secure.
