- Flat-head screwdriver
- Replacement fuel filter
- Wrench
- Fuel line pliers
Instructions:
1. Park your Dakota in a safe location and turn off the engine.
2. Locate the fuel filter. It is usually found under the truck near the gas tank.
3. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the fuel line clamps on either side of the fuel filter.
4. Use a wrench to loosen and remove the fuel lines from the filter. Be careful not to spill any fuel.
5. Remove the old fuel filter by twisting it counterclockwise and discard.
6. Install the new fuel filter by twisting it clockwise until it is hand tight.
7. Reattach the fuel lines to the fuel filter and tighten them with a wrench.
8. Close the fuel line clamps with a flat-head screwdriver.
9. Start the engine and check for leaks.
That completes changing the fuel filter in a 2001 Dodge Dakota.
