How to change oil in an 2004 Dodge Stratus?

Tools and materials needed:

- New oil filter (check owner's manual for correct size)

- New oil (check owner's manual for correct type and amount)

- Oil drain pan

- Funnel

- Wrench

- Rags

Instructions:

. Park the vehicle on level ground and turn off the engine. Allow it to cool down.

. Locate the oil drain plug .It is usually located on the bottom of the oil pan.

. Place the oil drain pan beneath the drain plug.

. Use your wrench to loosen the drain plug and allow the old oil to drain into the pan. Be careful not to spill any oil on yourself or the ground.

. Once all of the oil has drained, replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.

. Locate the oil filter. It is usually located near the top of the engine.

. Use the wrench to loosen the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.

. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter. This will help to create a seal and prevent leaks.

. Screw the new oil filter onto the engine and tighten it securely.

. Open the hood of your vehicle and locate the oil fill cap. It is usually marked with an oil can symbol.

. Unscrew the oil fill cap and use the funnel to add the new oil. Add the amount of oil specified in your owner's manual.

. Replace the oil fill cap and close the hood of your vehicle.

. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.

. Check the oil level using the dipstick. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.

Note:

Always refer to your owner's manual for specific instructions on changing the oil in your vehicle.
