- Park your vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down completely.
- Open the hood of your car.
- Locate the oil filter housing. On the C230 Kompressor, it is a cylindrical-shaped canister located near the top-front of the engine, towards the passenger side.
- Place an oil drain pan under the oil filter housing to catch any dripping oil.
- Use an oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter counterclockwise. Be careful not to spill any oil.
- Remove the old oil filter and dispose of it properly.
- Apply a thin coat of new engine oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
- Screw on the new oil filter by hand until it is snug. Do not over-tighten the oil filter.
- Remove the oil drain pan.
- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the new oil.
- Check the oil level using the dipstick. If necessary, add more oil to bring it to the recommended level.
Here are some additional notes about changing the oil filter on a 2005 Mercedes-Benz C230 Kompressor:
- The oil filter for this vehicle is a Mercedes-Benz-specific part. The part number is 2711800109.
- The oil filter housing on this vehicle is made of plastic. Be careful not to over-tighten the oil filter, as this can damage the housing.
- It is always a good idea to replace the oil filter whenever you change the oil.
