* The car is turned off and the steering wheel is in the locked position.
* The car is in motion and the steering wheel is turned beyond the locking point.
* The electronic power steering system (EPS) has malfunctioned.
If the steering wheel is locked when the car is turned off, you can simply turn the key in the ignition to unlock it. If the steering wheel is locked when the car is in motion, you should pull over to the side of the road and check the owner's manual. Most models come with an EPS manual override switch that lets you disable the lock if the EPS malfunctions.
