_Note: Disconnect the negative battery cable before starting work on the fuel system._
1. Locate the fuel shutoff switch. It is a small, red button located on the driver's side of the engine bay, mounted to the firewall.
2. Press the fuel shutoff switch to turn it off. You will hear a click when the switch is turned off.
3. Open the hood of the truck and locate the fuel supply line. It is a black, plastic line that runs from the fuel tank to the engine.
4. Use a pliers to squeeze the release clip on the fuel supply line. This will disconnect the fuel supply line from the engine.
5. Remove the fuel filter. It is a small, cylindrical-shaped component located between the fuel supply line and the engine.
6. Unscrew the fuel filter cap and remove the fuel filter element.
7. Inspect the fuel filter element for dirt or debris. If the fuel filter element is dirty, replace it with a new one.
8. Reinstall the fuel filter element and fuel filter cap.
9. Reconnect the fuel supply line to the engine.
10. Turn the fuel shutoff switch back on. You will hear a click when the switch is turned on.
11. Tighten the fuel line connections.
12. Close the hood of the vehicle and start your engine to check for leaks.
If you smell fuel or see any leaks, tighten the connections again or replace the fuel line.
