- Lug wrench
- Socket set
- Flathead screwdriver
- Hammer
- Safety glasses
Instructions:
1. Loosen the lug nuts. Use the lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts on the wheel that corresponds to the brake drum you want to remove. Do not remove the lug nuts completely.
2. Raise the vehicle. Use a jack to raise the vehicle off the ground. Make sure the vehicle is securely supported.
3. Remove the lug nuts and wheel. Use the lug wrench to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel. Set the lug nuts and wheel aside.
4. Remove the brake drum mounting screws. There will be two screws holding the brake drum in place. Use a socket wrench to remove these screws.
5. Tap the brake drum with a hammer. Use a hammer to tap the brake drum lightly around the edge. This will help to break the seal between the brake drum and the axle.
6. Pull off the brake drum. Once the seal is broken, you should be able to pull the brake drum off of the axle. If the brake drum is still stuck, use a flathead screwdriver to pry it off of the axle.
7. Inspect the brake drum and shoes. Once the brake drum is removed, you can inspect the brake drum and shoes. If the brake shoes are worn, you will need to replace them.
