How do you change spark plugs on a Mazda tribute 4 cylinder?

Tools and Materials:

1. New Spark Plugs (4)

2. Spark Plug Wrench

3. Extension Bar

4. Ratchet

5. Gap Gauge

6. Dielectric Grease

Instructions:

1. Safety First:

-Ensure the vehicle is parked on level ground and the engine is completely off and cold.

-Engage the parking brake and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for safety.

2. Locate Spark Plugs:

- Open the hood of your vehicle.

- Consult your vehicle's owner's manual or use a diagram to identify the location of the spark plugs on the 4-cylinder Mazda Tribute. They are usually near the top of the engine.

3. Remove Ignition Coils:

- Detach the ignition coils by disconnecting the electrical connectors.

- Be cautious not to pull on the wires as it may damage them.

- Use the ratchet with an extension bar and the appropriate socket size to loosen the bolts or screws securing the ignition coils.

- Carefully take out the ignition coils and set them aside in a safe place.

4. Check and Gap Spark Plugs:

- Use the spark plug wrench and an extension to reach and loosen the old spark plugs.

- Make sure you don't drop them into the engine.

-Inspect the old spark plugs. The electrodes should be free of excessive wear or buildup.

- Check the gap between the electrodes of the new spark plugs using a gap gauge.

- If necessary, adjust the gap using a bending tool.

5. Apply Dielectric Grease:

- Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs. This will help prevent corrosion and ensure a good connection.

6.Screw in New Spark Plugs:

-Hand-tighten the new spark plugs into their respective holes until snug.

-Do not use the spark plug wrench yet to tighten them fully.

7. Tighten Spark Plugs:

- Use the spark plug wrench and the ratchet to tighten the spark plugs. Do not overtighten.

8. Reattach Ignition Coils:

- Place the ignition coils back onto the spark plugs and reconnect the electrical connectors.

9. Reconnect Battery:

- Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

10. Test Drive:

- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to ensure proper functionality.

- Take the vehicle for a test drive to check for any irregularities or problems.
