How do you check the transmission fluid on a 2003 Eddie Bauer explorer there is no dip stick?
There is a dipstick on the rear of the transmission (driver side). Be careful not to burn yourself on the exhaust. Check the fluid when it is warm. Use the dipstick like you would for the engine’s oil. The marks “FULL” and “ADD” are stamped onto the dipstick. To check the level of the fluid, pull the dipstick out, clean it, and reinsert it. Then pull it out one last time and check the fluid level. The fluid should be at the “FULL” mark or slightly above it. If it's below, you must add transmission fluid. It is recommended that the transmission fluid be changed every 60,000 miles or every three years, whichever comes first.
