- Spongy brake pedal: The brake pedal feels soft and goes down too easily when you press on it. This is because the master cylinder is not able to create enough pressure to push the brake fluid through the lines and to the calipers.
- Brake fluid leaks: If the brake master cylinder is leaking, you may see brake fluid under the car or on the inside of the wheel wells.
- Reduced braking power: The brakes may not work as well as they used to, and you may have to press harder on the brake pedal to get the car to stop.
- Brake pedal pulsation: The brake pedal may pulsate or vibrate when you press on it. This is caused by uneven wear on the brake rotors or drums, which can be a result of a bad brake master cylinder.
- No brakes: If the brake master cylinder fails completely, you will lose all braking power and the car will not be able to stop.
