1. Turn the engine off, wait for it to cool down then disconnect battery connections to prevent any potential sparking while you are handling fuel related parts..
>WARNING -Fuel can leak if lines connected to the fuel filter housing are moved, make sure you have placed rags underneath these connections to control leakage
-2. Disconnect electrical wires on filter bowl - this allows the filter housing assembly to come off (disconnect electrical before removal to prevent any arcing, and then untighten all bolts before trying to slide off assembly)
3. Using 7/16 wrench unscrew filter housing with 2 bolts attached - place filter into bowl assembly once untightened and remove O-ring from top of old filter for new filter
4. Put new assembly o-ring in position before you place new filter-make sure to put petroleum jelly on inside o-rings in assembly.
5. Slide fuel filter housing unit carefully to original fuel filter position until bolts seat in - hand tighten assembly first and ensure new assembly unit slides tightly before applying the wrench again for full tightening once assembly in position (be cautious about over-tightening)
6. Reattach 2 wiring electrical connections you unscrewed earlier
Disconnect negative cables you loosened for your fuel pump replacement for reconnections.
