The fuel filter on a 1999 Ford Explorer is located on the driver's side of the vehicle, just below the rear door. It is a cylindrical-shaped object with two fuel lines connected to it.
To replace the fuel filter, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
2. Relieve the pressure in the fuel lines by pressing the Schrader valve on the fuel injector rail.
3. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel filter by pressing the release button on each connector.
4. Remove the old fuel filter by unscrewing it from the fuel line bracket.
5. Install the new fuel filter by screwing it into the fuel line bracket.
6. Re-connect the fuel lines to the fuel filter.
7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
