Base Ignition Timing: 15° BTDC (Before Top Dead Center) +/-2°
Spark Advance Timing: 20°-30° BTDC (Varies with engine speed and load)
Special Notes:
- The ignition timing should be checked with the engine at operating temperature and the idle speed set to specifications.
- When adjusting the ignition timing, always turn the distributor housing counterclockwise to retard the timing and clockwise to advance the timing.
- If the ignition timing is not set correctly, it can cause the engine to run rough, ping or knock, or even overheat.
