1. Locate the fuel filter. It is located underneath the car, near the fuel tank. There will be two fuel lines connected to the filter, one on each side.
2. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel filter. Use a wrench to loosen the fuel line nuts, and then pull the fuel lines off of the filter. Be careful not to spill any fuel.
3. Remove the fuel filter. Once the fuel lines are disconnected, you can remove the fuel filter by unbolting it from the frame of the car.
4. Install the new fuel filter. Insert the new fuel filter into the frame of the car, and then bolt it in place.
5. Reconnect the fuel lines to the fuel filter. Tighten the fuel line nuts until they are snug.
6. Turn on the engine and check for leaks. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check the fuel filter for any leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the fuel line nuts until the leak stops.

- Make sure that you have the right fuel filter for your car. The fuel filter for a 2003 PT Cruiser is a 1/4-inch diameter filter with a 3/8-inch thread size.
- Be careful not to spill any fuel when disconnecting the fuel lines. If you spill any fuel, clean it up immediately with a rag.
- Tighten the fuel line nuts until they are snug, but do not over-tighten them. Over-tightening the fuel line nuts can damage the nuts or the fuel lines.
- Check the fuel filter for leaks after starting the engine. If you see any leaks, tighten the fuel line nuts until the leak stops.
