1. Gather your materials
- Replacement fuel filter
- New O-rings for the fuel filter canister cap and drain plug
- Wrench
- Screwdriver
- Pliers
- Safety glasses
- Gloves
2. Prepare the vehicle
- Park the vehicle on a level surface.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
- Engage the parking brake.
3. Locate the fuel filter canister
- The fuel filter canister is located on the driver's side of the engine, near the rear of the cylinder head.
4. Remove the fuel filter canister cap
- Use a wrench to loosen the fuel filter canister cap.
- Be careful not to spill any fuel.
5. Remove the old fuel filter
- Remove the old fuel filter from the canister.
- Inspect the O-ring on the fuel filter cap and replace it if necessary.
6. Install the new fuel filter
- Insert the new fuel filter into the canister.
- Make sure that the O-ring is properly seated.
7. Replace the fuel filter canister cap
- Replace the fuel filter canister cap and tighten it securely.
8. Replace the drain plug O-ring
- Use a screwdriver and pliers to remove the drain plug from the bottom of the fuel filter canister.
- Inspect the O-ring on the drain plug and replace it if necessary.
9. Replace the drain plug
- Replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.
10. Test for leaks
- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
- Check for any leaks around the fuel filter canister.
- If you see any leaks, tighten the cap or drain plug until the leak stops.
