1. Gather your tools and materials.
- You will need:
- A new fuel filter (part number Mopar 53034037AB)
- A screwdriver
- A wrench
- A drain pan
- Safety glasses
2. Prepare the vehicle.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Open the hood.
- Locate the fuel filter. It is located on the driver's side of the engine, near the rear.
- Place the drain pan under the fuel filter.
3. Relieve the fuel pressure.
- Start the engine and let it run for a few seconds.
- Turn off the engine and listen for the fuel pump to stop running.
- Remove the fuel cap to release any remaining pressure in the fuel line.
4. Disconnect the fuel lines.
- Use a screwdriver to pry open the fuel line clamps.
- Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel filter.
- Be careful, as some fuel may spill.
5. Remove the fuel filter.
- Unscrew the fuel filter from the fuel line mountings using a wrench.
6. Install the new fuel filter.
- Screw the new fuel filter into the fuel line mountings.
- Hand-tighten the fuel filter until it is snug.
- Do not overtighten the fuel filter.
7. Connect the fuel lines.
- Reconnect the fuel lines to the fuel filter.
- Use the screwdriver to snap the fuel line clamps back into place.
8. Start the engine.
- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
- Check for any leaks.
- If there are no leaks, turn off the engine.
9. Replace the fuel cap.
- Replace the fuel cap and close the hood.
10. Test the vehicle.
- Take the vehicle for a test drive to make sure that the fuel filter is working properly.
