1. Turn off the gas supply to the water heater. This is usually done by turning a valve on the gas line that leads to the water heater.
2. Remove the access panel to the pilot light assembly. This is usually located on the front of the water heater.
3. Locate the pilot battery fuse. It is usually a small, cylindrical fuse located near the pilot light assembly.
4. Remove the old fuse and insert the new fuse. Be sure to insert the new fuse in the same direction as the old fuse.
5. Replace the access panel to the pilot light assembly.
6. Turn on the gas supply to the water heater.
7. Relight the pilot light. This is usually done by pressing the ignition button on the water heater.
