1. Connect the OBD-II scanner to the diagnostic port of your Pilot. The port is usually located under the dashboard, near the steering wheel.
2. Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine.
3. On the scanner, select the option to retrieve trouble codes. The scanner will display any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) that have been stored in the Pilot's engine control unit (ECU).
4. Once you have read the trouble codes, select the option to clear or erase them. This will tell the car's computer to remove the fault codes and turn off the check engine light.
5. Start the engine to verify that the check engine light has been reset.
If the check engine light comes back on after resetting it, there may be a more serious problem with your Pilot that needs to be addressed. In this case, it is recommended to have the vehicle diagnosed by a qualified mechanic.
