Identify the power steering cylinder: The power steering cylinder is located on the front of the tractor, beneath the steering column. It is a cylindrical-shaped component that is connected to the steering linkage.
Inspect the power steering cylinder for leaks: Check for leaks around the power steering cylinder. If there are any leaks, tighten the fittings or replace the seals as needed.
Loosen the locknut: Use a wrench to loosen the locknut that is located on the power steering cylinder. This nut holds the cylinder in place and prevents it from moving.
Adjust the power steering cylinder: Use a screwdriver or an Allen key to turn the adjusting screw on the power steering cylinder. Turning the screw clockwise will increase the power steering assist, while turning it counterclockwise will decrease the assist.
Tighten the locknut: Once you have adjusted the power steering cylinder, tighten the locknut to hold it in place.
Test the power steering: Start the tractor and turn the steering wheel. Check the level of power steering assist and make further adjustments as needed.
Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions and recommendations when adjusting the power steering on your Massey Ferguson 165. Incorrect adjustment can affect the performance and safety of the tractor.
