How do you change speed sensor on 1996 Bronco?

1996 Ford Bronco Speed Sensor Replacement

Tools and Materials Needed:

- 3/8-inch drive ratchet and socket set

- Flat-head screwdriver

- Pliers

- New speed sensor

Instructions:

1. Park your Bronco on a level surface and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake.

2. Crawl under the front of your Bronco and locate the speed sensor. It is located on the driver's side of the transmission, just above the oil pan.

3. Use the flat-head screwdriver to pry the electrical connector off of the speed sensor.

4. Use the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket to remove the two bolts that hold the speed sensor in place.

5. Pull the speed sensor out of the transmission. Be careful not to spill any transmission fluid.

6. Install the new speed sensor by inserting it into the transmission and securing it with the two bolts.

7. Reattach the electrical connector to the speed sensor.

8. Lower your Bronco and test the speedometer to make sure that the new speed sensor is working properly.

Tips:

- If you are having difficulty removing the electrical connector, you can use a pair of pliers to help you.

- Be careful not to drop the bolts when you are removing the speed sensor.
