What kind of oil do you use in your hydrostatic transmission for sears lawn mower?

SAE 20W-50 Motor Oil

The hydrostatic transmission in your Sears lawn mower requires SAE 20W-50 motor oil. This type of oil is designed to provide the necessary lubrication and protection for the gears, bearings, and other components within the transmission. It also helps to dissipate heat and prevent the transmission from overheating.

How to Change the Oil in Your Sears Hydrostatic Transmission

1. Park your lawn mower on a level surface and turn off the engine.

2. Allow the engine to cool down completely.

3. Remove the oil drain plug from the bottom of the transmission.

4. Allow the old oil to drain out completely.

5. Replace the oil drain plug.

6. Remove the oil filter from the side of the transmission.

7. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.

8. Screw the new oil filter onto the transmission.

9. Add new SAE 20W-50 motor oil to the transmission until the oil level reaches the "Full" mark on the dipstick.

10. Check the oil level regularly and add oil as needed.
