How do you change the oil in a 2000 Dodge Stratus?

Materials Needed:

- New oil filter

- New oil

- Oil drain pan

- Funnel

- Wrench

Instructions:

1. Park your car on level ground and turn off the engine.

2. Allow the engine to cool.

3. Locate the oil drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan.

4. Place the oil drain pan under the oil drain plug.

5. Use the wrench to loosen and remove the oil drain plug.

6. Allow the old oil to drain into the pan.

7. Once the old oil has drained, replace the oil drain plug.

8. Locate the oil filter. It is usually near the top of the engine.

9. Use the wrench to loosen and remove the oil filter.

10. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.

11. Screw on the new oil filter until it is snug.

12. Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine.

13. Refer to your owner's manual for the correct amount of oil.

14. Check the oil level using the dipstick.

15. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.

16. Check the oil level again.

17. If the oil level is correct, you are finished.

Tips:

- Wear gloves to protect your hands from oil.

- Make sure that you dispose of the old oil properly. Check with your local waste disposal center for the appropriate location for waste oil.

- You may need to raise your vehicle up on ramps or use a jack to reach the oil drain plug and filter.
