1. Open the hood of your vehicle.
2. Locate the throttle body. It is usually positioned on the front side of the engine intake manifold.
3. The TPS is attached directly to the throttle body. It is typically located on the side or top of the throttle body and has a small electrical connector plugged into it.
The TPS consists of a potentiometer that translates the position of the throttle valve into an electrical signal. This signal is sent to the engine control module (ECM) to determine the engine load and adjust fuel injection and ignition timing accordingly. If you are experiencing issues with your vehicle's idling or performance, it may be worth checking the condition and proper operation of the TPS.
