How do you get the fuel filter apart?

Fuel filter removal steps

1. Locate the fuel filter. It is usually located in the engine compartment near the fuel injector rails.

2. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel filter. There may be two or three fuel lines, depending on the vehicle.

3. Use a fuel filter wrench to loosen the fuel filter and rotate it counterclockwise until it comes off. Be careful not to spill any fuel.

4. Remove the old fuel filter and its gasket from the fuel filter housing. Make sure the surface is clean and free of debris.

5. Install the new fuel filter and its gasket. Hand-tighten first until the gasket meets the housing surface, then tighten it more with the filter wrench. Be careful not to over-tighten.

6. Reconnect the fuel lines to the fuel filter. Tighten the fuel line nuts until they are snug.

7. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to check for leaks. Look for any signs of fuel leaks around the fuel filter. If you see any leaks, stop the engine and check that you installed all the rubber components and o-rings correctly.
