The oil filler hole for the Massey Ferguson 165 tractor cannot be found on or near the transmission fluid dip stick. It is actually located on the left hand side of the engine bay. The oil filler hole will have an oval-shaped, black plastic cap with a "3" imprinted on the top. To remove the cap, simply turn it counter-clockwise until it comes off. Be sure to replace the cap when you are finished adding oil to the engine.
Checking the Oil Level
The oil level should be checked regularly, and always before operating the tractor. To check the oil level, first wipe the dipstick with a clean cloth and reinsert it into the dipstick hole until it is seated properly. Then remove the dipstick and check the oil level on the dipstick. The oil level should be between the "ADD" and "FULL" marks on the dipstick.
Adding Oil
If the oil level is low, add enough oil to bring it up to the "FULL" mark on the dipstick. Be careful not to overfill the engine, as this can cause damage.
